Stanley Jeffries Barnes

STANLEY J. BARNES, 86, died peacefully on May 24 with his loving wife by his side. Before retiring, he was a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor at Laird and Company, Scobeyville, NJ. In his earlier years, he worked for Thompson Fuel Company, Neptune, NJ and managed Stan’s Sinclair Gas Station in Belmar, NJ. He was also a former member of the Allenhurst Fire Department, Allenhurst, NJ. He was a man of honesty and integrity, with his wife and family always his top priority. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Asbury Park Salvation Army Corps in his youth, the Memorial United Methodist Church, Neptune City, NJ and, in later years, the Victoria United Methodist Church, Victoria, VA. Born in Asbury Park, he lived in New Jersey for most of his life, before moving to Virginia in 2001. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Hope Barnes, as well as his brothers, Gordon Barnes and Gilbert Barnes. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Doris K. Barnes, Victoria, VA; his daughters, Kathleen Williams (Wayne) of Lynchburg, VA and Ginger Gero of Point Pleasant, NJ; his son, Stanley J. Barnes, Jr. (Lori) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; grandsons, Jason Williams, John Williams, William Gero and Pierce Barnes; great-grandsons, Alex and Owen Williams, and his brother, Royston Barnes (Paulette) of Victoria, VA along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 11am Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Victoria Methodist Church.
