Sandra Crafton Smith

April 20, 1948 — April 4, 2024

Chesterfield

On Thursday, April 4th, 2024, Sandra Crafton Smith,  peacefully passed away at the age of 75.  Sandra was born on April 20th, 1948, in Roanoke, Va.  She was known for her  sharp intellect, sense of humor, reading, and for her compassionate endless support in whatever endeavor one was striving towards; especially with her four children and granddaughter.

Sandra often joked about being a repository of random acts and cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Sandra loved having company and if she knew you were to be alone during the holidays, she would welcome or rather jokingly demand them to spend it with her family. Sandra’s heart and door was also open to those who truly needed it and loved gathering with those all around her.

Throughout Sandra’s life, she selflessly supported her family and friends. Whether it be the cheerleading mom, the dance mom, the best friend, the warm hug one needed, the event organizer, the amazing writer, the wit you needed, the sharp intellect that pushed you, the sense of humor that made you belly laugh and smile, or simply just being in her company, she was fiercely always there.

Sandra Crafton Smith,  a woman whose heart and character of angelic glow, will be greatly missed. From her laugh, her insight, her caring, her heart, everything that encompassed who Sandra was, will be significantly missed but will resonate though her family.

She is survived by her son Ralph Wayne Smith Jr, and her three daughters Shawn O’Connor, Shannon Smith, Sara Camden, and granddaughter Willow Lynn Camden. Her sisters Denise Collier and her husband Terry Collier of Mena, AR,  and Donna Johnston and her husband Doug Johnston of Amarillo, TX.  and her nephew Ira J Smith IV.

As well as an array of devoted friends and family who knew her.

She was preceded by death by her husband Ralph Wayne Smith, her parents Dennis Crafton and Marie Crafton and her in-laws Ira “Buck” and Mildred Smith.

Sandra Crafton Smith’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her.  A celebration of her life will be held at another date.
