Herbert Lindsey Clem, 76, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Arline Clem. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hawthorne Clem; daughters, Jennifer Clem Hair (Rick) and Heather Clem Harker (Daniel); grandchildren, Lindsey, Ashley, and Josh Hair, Bailey Brinson, Bradley and Andrew Harker; as well as sisters, Jean Ellis (Dave) and Darlene Nash (Billy) and several nieces and nephews. Lindsey graduated from Kenbridge High School and the University of Richmond Robins School of Business where he finished first in accounting and fifth in the School of Business. After graduation, he accepted a job at Haskins & Sells in Greensboro, NC, while serving in the Army Reserves for 11 years. He later returned to Richmond in 1972 to join a small CPA firm. Lindsey was an adjunct professor in accounting at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College while building his own CPA practice. In 1990, he went to work for the Foreign Mission Board until he retired in 2009. Lindsey has been a member of Monument Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon, treasurer, assistant treasurer and Sunday School teacher. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Monument Heights Baptist Church, 5716 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA, from 9:30am to start of services at 11am. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Dundas Baptist Cemetery, Long View Road, Dundas, VA. The family is extremely grateful to the CVICU and Hospice nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital for their wonderful compassion in caring for Lindsey during his brief illness.
