Eva Bell Stearnes, 65, of Victoria, VA went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2025. She was one of 11 children born to the late Corey Franklin Harkness and Eugenie Yates Combs. She was mother of the late Steven Barnes. She is survived by her husband Clarence Mann Stearnes, Jr. of Victoria; her sons, Jerald Barnes of Houston, TX and Robert Barnes (Katie) of Prince George; her daughters, Christina “Tina” Dennee (Mark) of Appomattox and April Long (John) of Chase City; numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Buck Yates (Nancy) Matoaca; two sisters, Eugenie Lesso of New York and Gillian Hrbenski of Richmond; devoted niece, Virginia VanOrman of Chesterfield. Eva grew up in Skinquarter, VA and graduated from Clover Hill High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Grange Elementary School and later Clover Hill High School. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing jokes on people and collecting clocks. She will always be remembered for her nurturing spirit and her wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of Skinquarter Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1 to 3PM at the Staples Funeral Home, 2300 Nottoway Blvd, Victoria, VA 23974. Graveside funeral services will be held Noon Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Skinquarter Baptist Church Cemetery, 6900 Moseley Road, Moseley, Va 23120.
