Elaine Nelson Hawkins

Elaine Nelson Hawkins, 99, of Victoria, Va. joined her family and friends in Heaven on March 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Howard Nelson and Lottie Harden Nelson; husband, Ralph Montell Hawkins, Sr; daughter, Donna Rickmond; son, James G. Moss; sisters, Helen Nelson, Miriam Overby, Barbara Brewer and her brother, Virgil Howard “Buddy” Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Jones (Richard) of Raleigh, NC and her son, Ralph Montell “Monty” Hawkins, Jr. (Patricia) of Moseley; 9 grandchildren, Sharon Hodge, James Rickmond, Sean Moss, Shane Jones, Colin Moss, Sam Moss, Luke Moss, Corey Moss, and Nicholas Hawkins; 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Elaine was a devoted member of Tussekiah Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir; at her death she was the oldest living member. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Staples Funeral Home in Victoria from 1PM until start of services at 2PM. Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria.
