Charles Emory Harding, 83, of Victoria, VA went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2024. He was the son of the late Walter Cleveland Harding and Kathleen Oakes “Cookie” Harding. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Kallam Harding; his son, Chuck Harding (Diane) all of Victoria; grandchildren, Ashley Harding (Chad Driggs) of Baskerville, Chadd Harding (Mercedes) of Rehoboth and Tyler Harding (Megan) of South Hill; great grandson, Colton Chase Harding; his sister, Audrey Showns of Petersburg and his brother, Morrell Harding (Evelyn). Charles was born in Prince Edward County. He grew up in Lunenburg County and attended Victoria High School. He honorably served our country in the US Navy for 4 years. In 1963 he went to work for the Norfolk and Western Railway as a brakeman, he later was a conductor for many years and retired as an engineer for the Norfolk Southern. He was a life member of VFW Post 9954, a member of Victoria Masonic Lodge #304 and a former lodge master, member of American Legion Post 0147 and member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. Charles enjoyed the fellowship at the Victoria Restauraunt, antique tractors, auctions, farming and trucking. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic and the love he had for his family. One of his favorite sayings was, “sleep quick, we got work to do.” The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 6:30 to 8PM at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge where funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 2PM. Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery Victoria.
