Betty Ann Lunsford Bowman

Green Bay, Virginia

Betty Ann Lunsford Bowman, 85, of Green Bay, VA went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Andrew “Mark” Lunsford and Annie Mae Sams Lunsford and sister of the late, Judy Werner and Vivian Lunsford. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Donald “Dee” Bowman; her son, G. Frank Bowman (Stephanie) of Lynchburg; her daughter, Patti B. Carey (Sam); grandson, Mitchell James Carey all of Farmville; three sisters, Eula Anderson of Jetersville, Janice Lewis of Crewe and Carol Duff of Lynchburg; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Betty was born on January 27, 1940. She grew up in Nottoway County and graduated from Crewe High School in 1958. She started her career working as a secretary for Clay’s Hatchery, later she joined John’s Equipment in Farmville as a bookkeeper, she then worked for Freeman Auto Parts as administrative support, later as a bookkeeper for Automotive Wholesales and lastly she was administrative support for Prince Edward Mills. She left the public workforce to farm and care for others. She enjoyed cooking, writing, and sending cards and letters to others, sending over a hundred a month. Each fall she looked forward to making Molasses where the proceeds went to missionary work. She will always be remembered for the love she had for others. Alongside two of her sisters she sang in the Liberty Trio for many years. She taught Sunday School at Maranatha Baptist Church and later Jetersville Baptist Church where she was a devoted member and where the family will receive friends Saturday April 5, 2025 from 1PM until start of services at 2PM. Interment to follow at Orchard View Cemetery, 210 Hanover Road, Green Bay, VA 23942. The family wishes to give a heartfelt “Thank You” to all the nurses and caregivers for all of the love and support showed to Mrs. Bowman and the family.
