Lynchburg, Allen Mitchell Franklin, “Hady” to family, “Mitch” to most, hung his tool belt up for the last time on February 25, 2024. Born in Lynchburg, Va. June 8, 1953. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Coleman Irby; his brothers, Benjamin Franklin, John Franklin, Sr. and Carroll Lee Crist, Sr.; his sisters, Pat Franklin-Bondurant and Marie Jones; his first wife and their two sons, Haywood A. Franklin and J. Allen Franklin. He is survived by his beloved sister; Cathy Kidd (Cullen); former wife, Connie Waller and their children, daughters, Amber Franklin, Samantha Hudnall and her son Treyton Goin, Brittany Franklin and her son Laiken Campbell; lifelong friend, Vicky Golding and their son, Christopher Franklin; nephews, Johnny C. Franklin, Jr., Carroll Lee Crist, Jr., Russell Kidd, Chris Kidd, Asa Kidd, Marshall Bayne and Ricky Clark; nieces, Marie Franklin, Adele Bayne, Adelynn Bayne and Sarah Beagle; 9 grandchildren and devoted caretaker and friend, Tammy King. In true Mitch Franklin style, he’s opted for no service. Farewell Mitch, you will always be remembered for the “LARGER THAN LIFE” character you never failed to be…
